If you would like to support people who go through stress, distress or even suicide, you can volunteer with us.
Call us or email us, make an appointment and come to our centre in Dadar East. You will meet and talk to one of our volunteers, and undergo an interview process. If selected, and if you select us, you will be required to attend 6 full days of training which is on weekends. After the Training, there are many ways you can support our work
1) Join our Helpline Team - You will be required to Volunteer for two shifts a week which is about 8 hrs in a week. Our shifts are from 3pm - 6pm and 6pm to 9pm. These are busy where we receive over 5 calls an hour.
2) Join our social media team - Use your creative skills to help in reaching out to people on issues of mental health through our instagram, facebook and twitter account. We are in need of content and graphic developers.
3)Join our Outreach Team- Use your training skills , by becoming a trainer for our outreach seminars and workshops at various, colleges, schools, NGOS and institutes. The Team also works closely with media , print, radio and television channels as well. Use your networking skills, and help us reach out more.
4)Join our Email befriending Team- Use your writing skills, as many people email their issues and concerns, as they sometimes don’t get through our numbers or lack the privacy, and sometimes they are just more comfortable writing.
5) Join our Data/Admin Team- Help us manage the back end of our helpline and help us understand our callers better.
6) Join our Fundraising Team- Samaritans Mumbai is a purely Volunteer based Organisation , but as we are trying to increase its presence, we need to develop fund raising strategies
